The University of Buea hosted a signing ceremony Jan. 21, 2026, to formalize mentorship agreements with three private higher education institutions, marking a step toward promoting academic collaboration and quality assurance.
The event took place in the boardroom of the university’s Central Administrative Building in Beau, in Cameroon’s South West Region.
The partner institutions are St. Joan Higher Institute (SAJOHIM) in Yaoundé; DEX Higher Institute of Biomedical Science, Management and Technology (DHIBMAT) in Limbe; and St. Alessandro Higher Institute (SAHI) in Douala.
The agreements include both a general framework and specific provisions outlining areas of academic cooperation.
University of Buea officials said the mentorship arrangement is intended to support the partner institutions in aligning with national quality assurance standards and strengthening institutional governance.
Vice Chancellor Professor Ngomo Horace Manga thanked the institutions for choosing UB as their mentor and emphasized the importance of collaboration in advancing academic excellence.
He also encouraged adherence to the Ministry of Higher Education’s quality assurance requirements.
Representatives from the partner schools expressed appreciation for the opportunity to work with the University of Buea and highlighted the potential benefits for students and staff through shared academic support.
The ceremony was attended by senior university officials and Atuefack Arnold, representing the Minister of State, Minister of Higher Education.
Under Cameroon’s higher education policy, mentorship between public universities and private institutions is encouraged to promote quality standards and integration into the national education framework.
