Cameroon: a highway project accumulates delays, suspicions of corruption – France 24

Teller Report

In Cameroon, before taking the Yaoundé-Douala highway, you will have to be patient. On the roadway planned to cover 196 kilometers, only a third of the highway – 60 kilometers – has been completed in six years.

The structure, started in 2014, should have been delivered two years ago.

The powerful Chinese construction company in charge of the project says it does not have the money to continue the work, and the backlog is fueling suspicions of corruption.

The affected villagers have never been compensated and are demanding justice.
