Cameroon gov’t sends team to Kumba

The Prime Minister – Head of Government, Chief Dr Joseph Dion Ngute presided over a crisis meeting in Yaounde following the incident in Kumba.

The Prime Minister told members of government that he had learnt with a heavy heart of the barbaric and terrorist acts perpetrated by gunmen at the Mother Francisca International School in Fiango, Kumba in the South West region.

He explained that the modus operadi of the attack targeting school children in their classroom can be attributed to separatist groups who have been preventing children from going to school in the last four years under the pretext of the social political crisis in the North West and South West regions.

He said the gruesome attack in intended to instill fear and consequently dampen the moral of parents and children from going to school.

Instructions To Members Of Government

After analysing the situation, the Prime Minister dispatched an inter governmental committee led by the Minister of Territorial Administration, Paul Atanga Nji to extend the condolences of Head of State to the educational family and to the families children were shot dead in school.

The Prime Minister also instructed the Delegate General for National Security to open investigations to clarify the circumstances of the attack and measure to improve security around educational institutions.

The Minister of Communication, Rene Emmanuel Sadi was also told to grant a press conference to inform the national and international opinion on the incident and measures taken by government.
